With Meat Lust the Flava People have come a long way from their humble beginnings as a sausage casing supplier in the early seventies. Having created their first meat glaze in 1976 the third-generation family business spent 30 years fulfilling their mission “to add a little flava to the everyday”.

Today their one-of-a-kind blends are sold at supermarkets, restaurants and farmer’s markets through out the UK.

Background

Having a new range of marinade and dipping sauces read to hit the shops, Meat Lust approached us to help them bring their brand online with a website worthy of their tagline “Thug flavours that punch hard and don’t apologise”.  We relished the idea and set out to give them a website as stimulating and adventurous as their brand.

The challenge

We started as we always do, with the target audience. Knowing that they were between 18 and 30, busy and had no interest slogging through traditional text heavy content our goal was to make the site engaging and useful. It needed to be an experience they’d connect with, one that matched their browsing behaviour; tap, swipe, skim, move on.

Engaging our audience

Exciting, mobile-first & responsive

Do visitors read every word of every webpage, do you? Probably not. Most of us simply scan the page until we see something that stands out, something related to what we're looking for. Knowing that scanability was essential we created an experience meant to be skimmed. Multiple pages of content became short rows on a heavily designed, highly animated page. The result was shorter scrolls, fewer swipes and maximum engagement

Maximising engagement

To help the Meat Lust team manage the site behind the scenes and keep it up to date we gave them an easy to use, yet powerful, CMS. By establishing a clear understanding of what they needed to do we were able to create really simple focused workflows within the CMS. This has meant that they’ve been able to successfully update, maintain and publish the site with ease.

Super easy content management

The site has been a fantastic success and received glowing reviews. Flavour and where to buy continue to be the highest performing elements and more than 50% of all traffic reaches the bottom of the page. As anticipated, mobile usage dominates accounting for more than 60% of site visits.
